Like no joke, Sleater Kinney’s line “watch me make up my mind instead of my face” has been gospel for me since I was a TEENAGER. I still have a lot of patriarchal wounds I will be unpacking for years to come because of family and relationship trauma but I also see ways that conventionally attractive women my age are struggling in ways that I cannot relate to because I have *never* been perceived as conventionally attractive to men or typical beauty standards.
