I have never, ever felt like being attractive was part of my own personal currency or value in the world. I grew up in a family and social environment where your work and your politics is what had currency, and while I am definitely unpacking a lot of the ways in which even a good little elderly millennial radical feminist internalized a lot of heteronormative and patriarchal norms, it’s so clear how much being a weirdo on the fringes remains the gift that keeps on giving.
