i mostly agree with your assesment of XMR but I mostly disagree with that of Bitcoin. Imho, you're dismissing too eagerly the first mover advantage BTC has with it's extraordinary network effect, it's still permissionless and decentralised nature. Portraying it as being captured just because ETFs have launched is not honest. Whilst many actors/investors decide to invest in it through stocks or ETFs, many more still hold the real thing and self custody has never been easier and more secure compared to solutions that existed in the past. You're absolutely right about the privacy elements although obfuscation tools like Wasabi provide a reasonable amount of privacy. Anonimity, not privacy per say was always the point of bitcoin. Max Hillerbrand has argued you need the transparency of the ledger to guarantee it's finite supply in the eyes of all participants. I know XMR has answered that technically with ring signatures but according to Max, Bitcoin has the attribute of an immutable, finite ledger, not XMR. I think adoption will drive XMR, like you point out, uses in everyday life. Although I would like it to be be much more widely accepted, I don't see that adoption manifesting itself yet. By the way, I have a bag, because I think more people will turn to it with the arrival of CBDCs.
