There’s a book I’m about to read called The Coming Wave by Mustafa Suleyman.
Synopsis:
“It explores how AI and synthetic biology are rapidly advancing, with costs plummeting due to Moore's Law-like scaling, leading to widespread and commonplace access including for misuse in weaponry or bioweapons. Suleyman argues that containment is challenging because of inherent competition: nations, companies, and individuals race to innovate, making restraint difficult without coordinated global efforts.”
It’s doubtful we make it more than a few more generations if it’s commonplace for anyone with the inclination to be able to create a disease or a nuclear explosion.
Interesting times.
