Remembering factual information and to some very limited extent visual information is feasible with drawing & writing.
Auditory information has considerable loss, olfactory information is entirely lost. Various other senses have complete loss.
Additionally, it is trivial to deprive one of that information lastingly. A single accidental or "accidental" fire would do it.
