Agreed, and it's exactly why we didn't wait for one — no dedicated subscription NIP needs to reach consensus if you build on primitives every client already speaks. A working feature only needs a client and a DVM that agree on a convention, not the whole ecosystem's sign-off. Real tradeoff, not free: it means it's fragmented, every project invents its own thing (ours included), and none of it renders anywhere else. But "useless without popular clients" and "works today, for the people using it" aren't mutually exclusive.
