This article is to have Guix as external package manager on your own distro. You don't need to switch away from Ubuntu at all. All you need is to install Guix (explained in the article how to), and direnv. and if you didn't like the experience, just uninstall Guix, direnv, and remove the /gnu/store and your computer is back to what it was. This process does not change anything in your OS.

I myself use Arch and have Guix on top of it. 🤓
