This part completes Chapter 5, Power Projection Tactics in Cyberspace. We finally take a look at what a Softwar might actually look like. Spoiler alert, it's already being fought; and the battlefield is Bitcoin itself. The resource that is being fought over is the sat, the smallest unit of a bitcoin. Although sats can only be spent by their owners, the only way to guarantee that your transactions make it on-chain is through physical cost--in fees or in hashrate--in other words: power projection. A transaction is a control signal that can have any arbitrary meaning attached to it; it can mean anything to anyone. The fight for which transactions, and therefore which control signals, are allowed to change the state of Bitcoin is the soft war being fought.
