1) Thank you for your compassion. It's one of the nicer things about the left, when it doesn't go off the rails to the point of pathology.
2)Adoption is sweet and all, but it doesn't fill the deep biological need for one's actual genetics to carry on after one dies. For men, if assured paternity wasn't an issue, marriage would not exist as an institution. It's a fundamental drive. We WANT our own babies, grandies, and so forth.
