I'm hung up on this with Nolan because I constantly see him praised for his visual style. His films are visually "breathtaking" I have been told on many occasions.

So my question is...

Are they?

Not every filmmaker majors in aesthetics. Some are more into plot & character or establishing theme & mood. There is no one right way to make a film.

But I'm told Nolan's visual style is a big part of his greatness, so that's what I'm looking at.
