I do appreciate the US Supreme Court demonstrating over and over again, in such an unavoidably naked way, that law is simply the codification of some authority’s rule. The law is what an authority desires it to be; “interpretation” is simply an ex post facto justification for those preferences.
Makes it harder to pretend that law is some sacred and organic expression of a public’s will.
