⚡️🤖 NEW - MetaMask has just launched the “Wallet Agent.” An AI agent with a private key could already sign, swap, make transactions, and interact with protocols.
What this changes is key management, security, and—most importantly—control over what the agent is allowed to do and what it isn’t
You can set specific limits for it: which protocols it can access (whitelist), maximum amounts, and on which chains. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is required for certain transactions.
The security infrastructure is managed by Cubist (a company specializing in secure private key management)
Basically, before, you had to know what you were doing to give a wallet to an agent. Now it’s a packaged solution with built-in safeguards, available on Ethereum, Base, Arb, Hyperliquid, and about ten other ERC20 chains.
The real question now is: can we really trust this kind of tool when we’re putting money into it?
The other question I’m asking myself is: can an AI agent be hacked and receive other instructions from the hacker? Especially since the hacker will likely be an AI as well.
