Hoodwinked? I am old enough to remember how it was before Women's Lib. The deep denigration of women, the assumption they belonged in the home. There was very much to rebel against and it was way past time. Gaslighting? In what way is it put over any sort of false narrative as truth? You are aware of the criminalization of abortion in many parts of the US currently? You are aware of the moves in many states to remove all mention of LGBTQ stuff and much of sex education material from schools? You are aware of the Project 2025 goals that seem to be being implemented one after the other?
We cannot assume all is OK for the rights of women in the face of all of this.
Which gender roles? The assumption there is only male and female and they are dichotomous is against the actual facts of reality. Even biological sex itself is not always so clear with at least 1 in 1000 born with various forms of intersex. When we get to gender it is even more complex. What you were assigned at birth doesn't always have a lot to do with the gender identity you were born with or that develops and is pretty resistant to change. Gender roles are cultural overlays in large part over the top of actual internal gender and sex differences laid down during fetal development. But far from as simple as what some doc thought was between your legs at birth.
And what gender roles do you support? Do women have equal place in workspace and professions? Equal say legally? Or do you have something else in mind?
Feminism is hostile to some notions of the one and only right set of gender roles and damn well should be. It is its job to question assumptions in the area especially those that disempower entire classes of people.
That is a very good thing.
