You can also connect an unpatched computer to the internet and say, see it hasn't been hacked yet for some variable length of time. That doesn't prove it's a good idea, nor that it won't happen. It doesn't prove that the people recommending you patch are wrong or paranoid.
Bitcoin should be more secure than a bank. Your bank doesn't allow you to anonymously attach images to your wire transfer that they can't delete. If they did have a bug (inscriptions) that accidentally allowed that, they wouldn't wait over 2 years to patch it. They wouldn't call it a feature and say it's too hard to fix. They wouldn't argue that patching it is pointless because someone could theoretically find another way to do it. They wouldn't argue that by patching the bug, people will lose trust in the bank because if they patch the bug they could censor transactions in the future.. 🧐
