Have you heard of postpartum psychosis? It's far more intense; causes hallucinations and blackouts. And honestly, unless you've gone through PPD or PPP, you have no idea how bad it can get or the darkness that comes over you.
I don't excuse women like Casey Anthony or Susan Smith, but this situation feels very different. She tried to get help for months and was written off by doctors and family members. If she did do it, it's absolutely inexcusable, but doesn't make her a monster. Plenty of folks get to use an insanity plea, why isn't PPD a viable reason?
I'm not saying killing the kids is okay but I am saying she may not have done it or didn't realize what she was doing if she did.
Also, if I were her, experiencing massive postpartum depression and potentally psychosis, got no help, had no outlets, had a blackout and did this, came to and realized what I had done, I'd try to kill myself too. Those were the actions of a distraught and damaged mother, not a cold-blooded murderer (Casey Anthony) or a psycho bitch that just wanted her boyfriend to stick around (Susan Smith).
