Tested 3x Blockstream Jade Plus devices over the last few weeks.
So far: 👍
• Open source
• Air-gapped QR workflows
• Compact enough to actually carry daily
• Blind Oracle security model is underrated
The only thing I don't love is QR scanning. It's usable, but still feels a bit finicky at times, even after Blockstream's recent camera improvements. I also wish running your own PIN Oracle was dramatically easier for non-technical users.
Unpopular opinion: I can't stand Coldcards.
They're secure, but they're bulky and awkward to carry around. Every time I see one, I think of an R36S retro gaming handheld rather than something I'd want in my pocket.
That got me thinking...
The R36S has no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, a decent screen, physical buttons, and already looks like a harmless gaming device.
Would be interesting to turn one into a fully offline Bitcoin signing device in the future. A hardware wallet disguised as a retro game console might actually be easier to conceal than most hardware wallets on the market.
