I never had them as a child, so I had no negative associations. I recently found myself with an excess of sturdy homemade burger buns and ground beef. I made what I imagined a sloppy Joe would be, and it was delicious. A little ro-tel with the meat, cooked down enough to remove a lot of the water, plus well minced onions, Worcester a little vinegar and some other spices. It was delicious.
