I think the whole federation means something different to everyone and how that works is what make it feel weird.
As long as federation means, we can stand up some hubs for discovery, stars, etc then we can land in a good place. If that data is federated than great.
But federated as liked or bookmarked via a social app-like experience is as good as never happened.
