You're missing where they literally took no steps to cover their tracks and there is an article that shows how it was "laundered" (impossible) and the headline talks about the rate at which it was "laundered".
If they used a mixing service, maybe you could say that was "laundering" the money but they didn't because it's right there in your article.
Mixing services are great at laundering crypto. Crypto is bad at laundering money.
