The default path is neurotypical. Much of the information about how to do things is neurotypical written. Sometimes it doesn't matter. Sometimes it is the hardest possible path for the way my brain works.
So I journal and meditate and look for sticking points in my life. When I find them I try to reflect on why. Maybe it is just stressful, maybe I'm beating my head against a neurotypical approach and need to find a way that works for my brain.
It is mostly about masking and executive function.
Masking is a ton of work and stress. Not pretending to be neurotypical when I don't absolutely need to makes my life so much easier.
Executive function is huge. The way neurodivergent brains engage in tasks is wildly different than neurotypicals. This means that tons of advice for how to overcome procrastination is entirely wrong for example.
There is a huge stress gap between 0 and a meltdown or shutdown. It isn't binary. Every thing I do that keeps me closer to 0 makes all of the rest of life easier.
