Few and low value zaps proves that nostr works as intended. There is a big consumerist push to base all market and value measures on spending. Market forces don't work if the spending is indiscriminant. Spending should be carefully considered and only then does it create a useful signal to producers.
I argue that "content" is currently massively overvalued in the current economy. It is a gimmick because the loop is so tight. Content -> ad for more content -> another ad for more content. Any other market requires a change of venue of at least switching to a different app to make a purchase.
So in a world where you create content on nostr that doesn't use any ads in or out, why should you get paid? We intentionally broke the attention economy as a base philosophical precept and then act shocked when the flow of money slows.
People still flinging cash at every stupid thing haven't broken the consumerist mindset like Bitcoin and Nostr were supposed to help us do.
