Core supporters gloat anytime someone develops a new way to spam the chain as a way to message that they were right all along and plebs are wasting their time.

What they fail to realize is that this movement of people is about much more than mitigating spam to maintain decentralization. It's about switching to an implementation that cares about what plebs want. Keeping Bitcoin money. Not trying to censor criticism of updates. Being conservative with the protocol, especially after what has been learned from taproot and witness discount.

This movement of people did not exist at a large scale until core devs decided to spit on them and mock them. As if they were the annointed ones who were the only people allowed to decide.
