Build a seedsigner. Also they're cheap so build a few. Also check out foundation passport core. Other than the seedsigner hard to trust pretty much anything. Also there's no secure element but I am pretty sure trezor model T is all open source.
I would still roll dice and convert to binary then to bip39 words yourself. No matter what you have to use some kind of offline computer to calculate the checksum to get the final 12th or 24th word.

You can order seedsticks or print off the 2048 bip39 words on a 3d printer. Go to seedsigners website or github to get the files. If you're worried about making a mistake. But then the issue is you would have to use either a hardware wallet to calculate last word checksum or a permanently offline computer and Ian Coleman's tool.

Disagree that it was most likely a outside contribution considering the way the nym spoke to them online. I don't think this is about NVK accumulating more BTC. My main questions revolved also revolved around:
- Adam Back going to Epstein's Island as opposed to just doing business emails and phone calls like a normal person. He also never provided any explanation about being in the Epstein files.
- Some core devs not even owning any bitcoin
- Core restricting the github conversation when they proposed a change to the software that a big chunk of plebs didn't want.
- The slow boil frog scenario where we accept small infractions that we may disagree with over many years until liberty has eroded significantly.
Perhaps you're short on time but I am suprised you skipped the Epstein question. That seems pretty odd Adam Back was traveling to that island post Epstein's Florida charges. And then offering no explanation once everyone found out is quite concerning. I think a normal person would either deny the allegations or provide an explanation as to why he was there.

Honest question. Do you think the BIP 110 folks raised any good points outside of the obvious spam is bad?
No disrespect intended by this but some people can't grasp the level of evil in the world. As far as I know it you still don't believe the Coldcard bug was maliciously inserted despite all the evidence and coincidences.
You strike me as someone who is at least in this narrow aspect naive to the level of evil us bitcoiners face. The level of fiat corruption being presented as bitcoin project grants. The nature of removing incredibly small amounts of liberty so slowly that eventually you have no 4th amendment rights left and very little 1st or 2nd amendments left relative to a hundred years ago. This is the slow boilg frog attack we face in bitcoin as well.
From the perspective of someone who was on the side of BIP 110 the core devs are mostly corrupted with some of them not even owning bitcoin, opensats is corrupted, companies like blockstream are corrupted, Adam Back literally went to Epstein's island and has completely ignored the issue rather than providing a clear explanation which makes him appear guilty of horrendous crimes, no one I know wanted default 100kb op return defaults for config, core restricted peoples ability to question the change on github, coinkite apparently has 10 employees shipping thousands of hardware units and yet you still don't think there was a nation state involved. I mean I could go on and on and on. I could talk about citrea or this new bitcoin security consortium. Miner centralization. etc. etc

There's something to be said about one main retirement wallet done the olds book offline Linux pc way with pen and paper or stamping steel, a medium sized bank account wallet using hardware wallets, and a small every day or every week transaction wallet like a Phoenix or Zeus or some other easy to use qr code wallet that works with lightning.

Why not generate your own entropy then keep 10-15 super private utxos on multisig seperated from your non private utxos on single sig/passphrase? So I do have experience with multisig although it was years ago the last time I created one. So I do know what to back up and have encrypted USBs and drives for that. A bug in Ian Coleman's bip39 tool to watch out for to make sure it doesn't mess up your newly generated seedphrase. Only use this tool on offline computer, preferably with no option for WiFi and running a Linux distro that only runs in ram. Also remove drives and SSDs ahead of time. Consider using a cheap raspberry pi zero to do this or just smash whatever computer you do this on if you want zero chance of seed ever being extracted from it.

There are so many dice methods but I know some skimp on the entropy and aren't the best choice, others are too complex or take too long. Do you have a preferred method?
Or do you use something other than dice?
Any recommendations for how to calculate the check sum if you don't have airgapped machine your willing to destroy at some point? Other than RAM only Linux distros or trusting a hardware wallet to calculate the last word, some of which only turn on when plugged into a machine (pretty sure trezor are like that which is so dumb).

Dumb question. Only my second multisig. If I wanted to preserve privacy and not reveal my multisig script to the world, but I also want to make sure I don't lose my life savings, can I just start a transaction on sparrow on a offline computer, save transaction, sign with the hardware wallets, then click load transaction? Assuming it shows each wallet signed it correctly by filling up that colored bar or whatever, should be good right?
Or do nostriches recommend saying fuck it and sending a real transaction first before moving significant funds onto the new multisig? And hurting their privacy. Keep in mind these funds will sit in this wallet for many years as I'm making it as secure as I possibly can. To the point of if someone ever gets this then oh well bitcoin was doomed anyways if this much effort doesn't stop people.
Oh and will sparrow even let you make it that far when not connected to internet?

I liken this weeks coldcard event to crossing the rubicon in regard to the bitcoin sovereignty movement.
You have two choices going forward and there is no going back.
Either you
1. Make your custody setup the most advanced thing you've ever fucking put together.
OR
2. Worry for the rest of your life as a bitcoiner that your hardware wallet/wallets will become compromised or an exchange will rug you.

If you don't use entropy you collected on your own from pulsar timing arrays, please, lose my number.... Just kidding, here's a beginner friendly guide to take you through each step while holding your hand.
Ok, so first you need a large dish (≥15m), a cryogenic low-noise amplifier (LNA), and a Software Defined Radio (SDR) with high bandwidth (tens of MHz).
Now, your local clock must be synchronized to UTC via GPS. If your clock drifts, the "randomness" you record is just your clock's error, which is predictable. SO DONT OVERCLOCK YOUR CPU. Sync the clock over a fiber internet connection first before turning it into a permanently offline computer. And also download PINT or TEMPO2. These are the standard open source tools used by astronomers. Now you need to turn your hardened Linux computer into a permanently offline machine where you desolder the WiFi adapter from the motherboard. Simple. 5 minutes at most if you're not braindead.
Ok now, point your dish at bright millisecond pulsars like PSR J0030+0451 or PSR B0329+54.
Now record your data for a while. The raw data contains a predictable "model" (the pulsar's steady spin) and the "residuals" (the random variations you want).
Ok sweet. Put in the raw TOAs and the pulsar's "ephemeris" (its known position, spin rate, and orbital parameters).
The software subtracts the predicted arrival time from the actual arrival time.
Now you will have A list of Timing Residuals. These are the tiny deviations (nanoseconds to microseconds) caused by gravitational waves, interstellar medium turbulence, and intrinsic pulsar noise.
The residuals are not yet uniform random bits; they have statistical bias. You must "distill" them in order to extract the entropy you want.
First we need to scale the residual values so they fall between 0 and 1.
Quantization:
Simple Method for beginners to self custody: If a residual is above the median, output 1; if below, output 0.
Advanced Method for experienced plebs that have seen a thing or two 😏: Use Gray coding on the decimal expansion of the residuals to capture more bits per measurement.
Extraction (Crucial Step): Pass the raw bits through a cryptographic extractor.
This step mathematically guarantees that even if your measurement has some bias or correlation, the final output is indistinguishable from perfect randomness.
Copy this data to a USB drive and transfer it to another internet connected device. Compare your extracted residuals against a second independent dataset (e.g., compare your observation against the EPTA public release for the same timeframe on that same pulsar). If they match in their statistical properties (but not exact values, due to different noise floors), your source is genuine. Ask AI for help if you're new to bitcoin. Don't be embarrassed. We all started somewhere.
Statistical Testing: Run the final bitstream through the NIST SP 800-22 test suite. Pulsar-derived random numbers have been proven to pass these tests, confirming the entropy is a high enough grade to hold your 2 million sats so that one day you can have all the chairs and lambos you could ever want.
Once you finish this step repeat the process on a new pulsar since you sent the last data you collected over the internet and it is now ABSOLUTELY USELESS.
See? Easy peasy. Now you have your first private key for your new 3 of 5 multisig that you will eventually add a 200 (minimum, best not to mess up your security now that you've put the work in) character passphrase to. You still need to convert this key into a seedphrase but now you know how to get started.
Once you have done this 4 more times without ever revealing the data to anyone else, boom, you're ready to whip out sparrow on your offline machine and start constructing your secure 3 of 5 multisig wallet.
Make sure to now stamp everything into steel and spread it out to the far corners of the earth. Good luck! You got this! 💪
Oh! One last thing. If you really value security. You need multiple dishes because you need to record data for 6-12 months per pulsar. So grab a big UPS for making sure you don't lose power to your machines for the next year. Maybe even a whole house battery system you link to your computer and dishes only. Make sure it kicks on in under 3ms to avoid total loss.
For the extra paranoid I recommend discovering new pulsars so that no data exists on it for years to come. Do this 5 times and your golden.

We just have to normalize generating entropy by interacting with the physical world ourselves instead of relying on hardware interacting with software on a chip. We have to generate the words ourselves then enter them into the airgapped device. My 2 sats.

If you could travel to 1930's Soviet Russia and tell the average man throwing a handful of dice at a wall and writing down the results for an hour he could maintain his purchasing power, cross borders with his entire net worth secretly, and no one could easily take it from him, do you think he would be excited or would he say that's too much work?
What you're really saying when you claim no one will ever roll dice to secure their money is that life is actually pretty nice right now for most Americans and you think that won't change.
Fiat is going to fuck people pretty hard too. And when they get fucked with bad enough, playing dice to keep their wealth will sound incredible.
I'm not confident people will have higher purchasing power and income in 10 years. The AI tech overlords have no desire to share. People will claim their freedom, but only after it gets really, really bad.
The one way I can see that not being the case is if either local llms or decentralized AI networks compete well with centralized AI. In that case who knows how long it may take for bitcoin to catch on.
Its extremely hard to generate random information and secure it. But I'm still hopeful. Perhaps people will invent devices or contraptions that generate entropy with far less effort than dice or cards. But I'm just saying I'm not ready to give up on getting people to self custody. The alternative future is too dystopian for me to accept.

No all seedphrases are not vulnerable. The combinations of seed words are about the same as the number of atoms in the observable universe.
Don't think of it as an issue with BIP 139. This is an issue with the amount of randomness used in creating the private key. If you use dice rolls or other physical methods in the real world to generate entropy this can be avoided. Another way is to mix and match different brands of hardware wallets from different companies and add a strong passphrase in what is called a multisig setup.
A passphrase, which differs from a seedphrase, is a password that creates a sub wallet, like a wallet inside your wallet is an easy way to think of it. One more layer of protection. I'm a little busy with another matter at the moment but I hope this made sense and helps you!
