The Luddites weren't blanket anti new technology, neither are the Amish for that matter.
Western society holds the standard of always adopting new technology as presented by default. Both those groups flipped that script. They felt that a standard should be set for human wellbeing and technology should only be adopted if it improves the quality of life of humans who use it. In some cases adopt the technology but with rules around its use.
I don't believe in top down assigned rules like the Amish. I don't believe it is for someone else to tell me what standard of human flourishing I use to guide my decisions. I do believe in making deliberate decisions about technology use, even if they are difficult, instead of blindly adopting whatever is new.
