When the pennisula became an island, the new residents of the old estate became a sort of commune. They restored the old gardens, installed solar and wind, and most of all -- met once a week for a community meal on Sundays. They deemed that meal, "Solarpunk Sunday" -- to celebrate a sustainable way of life that was hard fought for, but won.
