There's a big difference between running an app on one's computer and running an app on one's computer 24/7. PLUS dealing with NAT is a huge pain in the ass.
But seriously, why not just self host a regular old website at that point? You get just as much freedom and control as Pubky, except the clients (browsers) already have support for just about anything a person would want to host. (Excluding their grandma of course.)
If you want, couldn't you even set up PKDNS to just point to the IP address of whatever website you are hosting?
