There are plenty of platforms that pay people to watch ads. They are all terrible. None of them are worth it. You can improve the erganomics and censorship resistence and currency options for payments, but even the perfect app like yours is still a bad app.
Ads exist because they are the digital payment method with the lowest barrier of entry to the end user. If you try to use it for anything else then it will fail.

Virtually all Nostr traffic is dominated by a relatively small number of requests, that is, global searches. A feature that Pubky does not allow people to delegate to an indexing server, if global searches are possible at all. You are criticizing Nostr for having more features than Pubky.
Both Nostr and Pubky allow self-hosted outbox style setups. However Nostr is superior to Pubky by virtue of the fact that Nostr allows the same post to be hosted on multiple relays wheras Pubky only allows one endpoint. Additionally, Nostr is superior because Nostr allows the same server to host multiple people's posts, meaning that people aren't REQUIRED to aquire their own server. It has a much lower barrier of entry for people to engage.

You are correct that my example of believing I'm smug is a belief ABOUT feelings, but it is false to claim that it is not ALSO a belief based on a feeling.
You are right that feelings aren't rational, but neither is sensation. There is no reasoning behind Pleasure or pain or taste or temperature. Those sensations come from outside our mind and outside our reasoning organs. They aren't reasonable.
And yet most of our beliefs are based on sensation. The basis for a belief does not have to be made out of rationality in order for the belief itself to be rational. Feelings and sensations aren't rational, but they can be the basis of rational beliefs. Not only are feelings often a sufficient basis to determine what is good and bad, I contend that feelings are a necessary basis to determine what is good and bad. When you look at how people use the words "good" and "bad", people always base their judgements on a foundation of thought experiments and their feelings about those thought experiments.
Culture can't affect objective people, which is why my definition of objective good and bad is based on someone exposed to all relevant perspective, not just the perspectives of one particular culture.

Yes, I understand that. All notes must be transmitted through relays. In order to globally search notes, they are best transmitted by the half a dozen Nostr relays that act as indexers.
In order to communicate with a follower however, those specific relays aren't needed. It is trivial to communicate through the users' inbox or outbox relays, which can easily be any relay you want, including self hosted, single-user relays.
You are right that there are more than two architectures, not just a simple binary between clearnet and darknet. Specifically, I am referring to using onion services because Tor is awesome and because other darknets are kinda dogshit.
I don't know why you brought up CSAM. I haven't mentioned it so far. If most of Nostr was on Tor then I wouldn't give a shit if it had CSAM somehow. On the clearnet though, I worry about federal agents and three letter agencies caring a little too much about our protocol if Child Porn posting becomes very prevalent.

But feelings can also be used for more than just forming beliefs about feelings themselves. For example, if someone considers (non-statutory) raping a child and then feels bad most normal humans would take that as an indication that maybe (non-statutory) raping a child is bad.
Sure, a human's feelings could mislead them regarding normative beliefs, but can't feelings at least be a reasonable indicator of normative truths?
I'm curious, if we don't define good and bad in terms of the feelings of a human who is thinking objectively, then how else are we supposed to define good and bad? Can you come up with a complete definition of good and bad which matches people's usage of the term, but which isn't based on feelings in one way or another?

Logic and evidence alone aren't enough either! Normative beliefs are founded on feelings, (they have to be!) and how someone feels about something depends on their consideration, their perspectives, and their objectivity.
That's just how humans work. No ampunt of thinking about logic and evidence will ever produce an ounce of sympathy from a human until you start engaging with them from the right perspective.
Take me for example. It doesn't matter how many papers you show me proving that children are capable of consent, that children are capable of romantic feelings, that children are capable of sexual pleasure, or even that rejecting a child's advances causes them more distress than just having a romantic or sexual relationship with them does.
Not because I am incapable of reading or acknowledging them, not because I wouldn't believe what they said, and not because I'm incapable of understanding basic or even advanced logic or reasoning, but because I just don't actually believe any of that is relevant to whether adults and children should have romantic or sexual relationships.
And similarly, I doubt YOU would change your mind no matter how many studies I gave you arguing that children are less reliable parents or that adults who date children are all old and used up. Am I wrong? Or have I understood you correctly?
The fact is that between us there is an important piece of perspective that hasn't been shared and considered and which is the TRUE source of our disagreement.

That's because those half a dozen relays are Nostr's version of indexing servers. The vast majority of message exchanges come from global searches, because that's when clients interact with the most messages.
For checking follower posts and replying to conversations like this, Nostr has no need to rely on those monolithic servers. There are hundreds of options out there to choose outbox relays from. In fact, there's no reason why a person can't create a single user relay to host their own notes.
Does Pubky have indexers? Does Pubky have global search? It seems to me that if the government shut down the top few Nostr relays then the biggest change is that we would be slightly closer to Pubky. Is that the terrible fate we are supposed to be afraid of?
With your threat model, I think you would be better served thinking about moving from the clearnet to the darknet, not from Nostr to Pubky.

Of course privacy is a right! Steganography and public key cryptography are proof that private communication between two collaborating parties is a right.
But that doesn't mean its actually GOOD, especially if people are relying on privacy as a way to enforce their echo chambers and prevent people from being able to understand their beliefs.
It's also a human right for people to be able to eat their own babies and light themselves on fire, but that doesn't mean that either of those things are GOOD.

That's the exception that proves the rule! The ONLY examples you can give when privacy is acceptable is when it exists to serve anonymity! That's because the person who is presenting a message is unrelated to the content and meaning and value of the message itself. Just like how it's acceptable to hide a password because it's devoid of meaning, so too is it acceptable to hide an associated identity because it's devoid of meaning.
Again, privacy is bad. Meaningful ideas should never be hidden except in service of the meaning itself. The only things that truly require privacy are disgusting and shameful and I wish they were public so we could all see and understand disgusting people better. I still believe that privacy is evil and anonymity is good. If your ideas can't exist in the light then they shouldn't exist at all. You don't have to listen to the arguments against you, but I think you should at least be willing to make them public if you won't keep them to yourself.
To clarify, something like a password is fine to keep private because it has no extrinsic meaning; it doesn't say anything ABOUT anything, and that's by design. But even something as mundane as a shopping list is better off on a public ledger than a private note app. (Assuming it doesn't de-anonymize the shopper.)

Pubky's design only supports what its client supports. Is there a client that currently supports browsing webpages in the same way that Chrome, Firefox, and Safari do?
Primarily, Nostr is not websites on servers. Noster is notes on servers. And at the core of Nostr is the fact that it allows one server to host multiple notes and it allows multiple servers to host one note. All without requiring the user's ownership or input. The only part of Nostr that's vulnerable to censorship is the fact that it's primarily hosted on the clearnet, (just like Pubky) and that it can sometimes be hard to know whether a content search is returning every result. PKDNS isn't a content searching protocol, is it? It's a public key search protocol.
From a censorship perspective, is needing to know the public key of the user you are looking for, is that all that different from needing to know one of the outboxes of the user you are looking for? Isn't that where Pubky gets its censorship resistance from? From the person already knowing something about the person whose posts they want to see?

There's a big difference between running an app on one's computer and running an app on one's computer 24/7. PLUS dealing with NAT is a huge pain in the ass.
But seriously, why not just self host a regular old website at that point? You get just as much freedom and control as Pubky, except the clients (browsers) already have support for just about anything a person would want to host. (Excluding their grandma of course.)
If you want, couldn't you even set up PKDNS to just point to the IP address of whatever website you are hosting?

To respect someone does not mean to trust and believe them. To respect someone means to engage with temh and try to understand what they believe.
Ask me any question that is answered by pubky.org and I guaruntee I'm able to tell you what your website says. My questions aren't answered by your website.
If I don't genuinely care then why else would I be so irritated? Do you think I'm overly attached to Nostr or something? Nostr is a garbage platform, and looking at decentralized alternatives can help me to understand the fundamental principals of decentralized microblogging better.
Please tell me, if someone is incapable of hosting a blog, is there any way they could they ever own or control a Pubky account?

Yeah, but doesn't the web have anti-phishing measures already? Isn't it already difficult or impossible to impersonate another web-host or to modify their webpage without permission?
And I can host ANYTHING? Can I host my dead grandmother on Pubkey? Show me the Pubky frontend app that supports that. Yet another exaggerated and unclear statement of course.
I actually respect you, which is why I'm choosing to take the time to read your posts and acknowledge the things that you say. Please don't spit in my face by pointing me at pubky.org. What would you do if someone visited pubky.org and still has some of the same questions and issues that I do?

Pubky's framework is similar to the internet. The creator figured out how to use the same DNS servers I think. The only difference is that instead of being able to host anything, you are only able to host blog posts. You still need a host server and I think you still need to backup and migrate your posts if you get censored. I could be wrong though.
I asked the creator a lot of questions, but the answers were exaggerated and unclear.

People who post CP aren't allowed on the AP instances you are getting those notes from either. AP and Nostr are both almost entirely clearnet protocols, which means that CSAM is not something they can safely or reliably host.
The only CP that got taken down as far as I can tell was from Nostr blossom servers and media hosts. The users and their notes are technically still around, its just that their media no longer loads. And the users no longer post because it turns out they maybe weren't too serious about making text based posts.

I think the posts from Nostr degenerates come off as pretty authentic, are you sure they are feds? Maybe its just a smaller community here.
