DOs:
Buy a used truck from Swift (Freeway Queen) with a double bunk sleeper.
Get a dedicated route in and out of your town. You don't want too dead head too much. Having a dedicated route means that you don't have a jewish broker middleman taking 10% of the profit just for pushing paperwork between you and the shipper.
It's super easy!!!!!!! but most owner/op guys are too chicken too go into the shipping office at a manufacturer and ask if they can be their trucker. Shippers are always looking for dedicated drivers.
Having dedicated loads/customers keeps you from having too drive through too many states. Every state requires separate highway taxes.
DON'Ts:
Don't buy a Peterbuilt that did farm and ranch hauling. Those things always break down. Those farm boys run those trucks into the ground and then sell them right before it needs an overhaul.
Don't stay on the load boards at the truck stops or online load boards. Online load boards are only for when you take an amazing paying load too somewhere strange and need to get back too base. Load boards are ran by middleman jews who take AT LEAST 10% of every load.
Don't buy highway permits for more states than you have too. I fucked in the beginning and bought freeway permitting for the whole country. I ended up just driving the western 11 states and then eventually just 9 states. My friends and family were in Texas, Cali and South Dakota, and I lived in Colorado. If my peeps weren't so dam spread out it would have been much nicer/smaller routes...
