This is a good argument and a good explanation of the strategic timing of exposing the coldcard hack.

To scare people into moving their coin into exchanges, takes away their decision about which side of the fork they want to control. If you decide for one or the other side, the exchange will have control over the same funds on the other side of the fork.

It’s not smart at all. Chain split may happen in a few days and you don’t want exchanges deciding what to do with your coins.
