The reason why AI companies chase growth is that their expensive training costs need to be funded by their customers. Inference cost is negligible (and will only drop further) so only training cost matters in the long term.

The more customers they have, the lower the cost for each individual user.

But if you abstain, then token costs for individuals will become unsustainable.

So the truth is in fact "Get in on AI or *we* will get left behind."
