The argument was the same: "No compiler can optimize better than a human can by hand".

It was true until the CPUs gained enough complexity that it wasn't possible to optimize by hand any longer.

Today LLMs are used to navigate large code bases better than humans. Yet some choose to refer to it as "slop" rather than accepting that our human brains are sometimes not up to the task.
