For twenty fucking years I have been screaming that the theatre is dying, and that its death will cascade into the death of the arts generally, and also the death of socializing, and this will all lead to the death of democracy.
Theatre was going down long before COVID, but COVID killed it dead. And then the bars died. And here we are: Democracy is pretty much dead.
But there is good news: Now that everything is dead, people actually agree with me. So I'm no longer screaming alone. (1)
