Today was a really rough day. There were so many petty cruelties everywhere I looked.

When I went to the medical center I discovered that the phlebotomist had been moved from a good sized, functional room to, essentially, a closet. She's clearly upset about it but nothing she can do. Cost savings, they say. Petty cruelty, I say.

At the grocery store, I asked someone about an item that was not in stock. He told me that the staff no longer has control over what's in stock and what's being ordered. It's all being done by that nasty roving robot. They let go of two people in each store. Efficiency, they say. Petty cruelty, I say.

The landlords have been signing leases with new people but not disclosing the problems with the building, including bedbugs. Confidentiality, they say. Petty cruelty, I say.

I just want to crumple down into a heap and weep for humanity.
