Used to, I went to those kids chess championship things and repeatedly got my ass stomped because I didn't memorise the cheapest ways to win. I was more about the long game, bait with and sacrifice queen early to take out at least 4 things on their back then sweep around with knights etc. I'd almost never go for a checkmate until it was just the king left, I enjoyed watching their hope die piece by piece.
