It's actually a tricky pattern.

You turn up to a client and say "hey I'd like to follow someone."

And the client says "sure I'll just append that to your follow list". "Hey relays can I please has his follow list"

And then crickets, because relays are too slow or internet bad or something.

And then the client says "ok, looks like a new user with no follow list, I will create a new one with just this one follow on it!"

And then the relays shrug and say, new follow list here for user, I'll delete the other old list I have.

Is that a client issue or a relay issue?

Blame clients I guess.
