I’ve been hearin’em in the woods behind the bunkhouse all summer, but today I finally spotted a male painted bunting in the flesh at my feeder, meaning breeding season is over and they’re switching back from eating bugs to eating seeds. Spotting one of these preposterous-lookin’ animals in the middle of Little Brown Bird country always caps off the season for me. #birds
