We can already see what happens when the opposition unites and people opposing BJP unite from the 2024 election results. BJP's vote share only fell by 0.8% (37.36% in 2019 vs 36.56% in 2024), but they were reduced to 240 seats and no longer wield a majority on their own.
I am simplifying a bit, but we can see it as a result of unification of anti-BJP forces, which helped in depriving BJP of a majority in Lok Sabha, despite BJP almost retaining its vote share.
