there are a lot of good points made in this article, but I take issue with its framing.

It states that children suffer "a sharp and *lasting* decline in wellbeing," and then talks only about the transition, not the ongoing 5-7 years spent in secondary schools. This is not an issue of them needing help across the jump up from Y6 to Y7. This is an issue of secondary schools being a fundamentally damaging place to be.

Suggesting that people just need help to survive a toxic environment is focusing entirely in the wrong place. But what should we expect from a culture which believes genuine work grievances can be resolved by occasionally buying the staff pizza?
