True, I don't understand it. Humans generally have the right not to be identified by their fingertips when committing premeditated crimes. Only victims have the inherent right to identify criminals, so fingerprinting for the sake of crime fighting doesn't really make sense.
Although some people use fingerprints to unlock their phone. It's not really a violation of anonymity in that case so much as its just another kind of password.
