In a similar vein, I was in a special ed class with kids with various needs / abilities. There was a girl who was non-verbal, and I asked why, and the reply I got was, "She's autistic," which I mis-heard as "artistic". Another teacher also added "She doesn't speak," to which I replied, "Maybe you don't speak her language." So, I proceeded to break out some art supplies, went over to her, and started talking to her.
