Got a new laptop here and had quite a fright when my backed-up Gramps database with all my research would not open and gave a corrupted error message. 😨 I searched around for an hour on various forums and finally found an approach that works, the program 7zip can "extract" the database and you can just use the files as if it wasn't a backup. There may be some lost linkages to media files but otherwise crisis averted.
