I disagree. It's not as practical or portable as Bitcoin, and its supply isn't as limited (especially once we start mining asteroids and go further into space) but it's still a hard asset with universal value that has been used as money for all of human existence.
I personally think it's ideal to have a decent cache of Bitcoin and precious metals (mainly gold/silver). In the event of a global EMP or total breakdown of society, gold and silver still hold their value, whereas the entire Bitcoin network could potentially go down and become permanently useless.
Good to hedge the bets, so to speak!
