How many do you think verified the codebase line by line to be sure that it is what it is? The thing is that people trust there will be at least one honest expert that will flag the inconsistent presumption on something we can't verify ourselves due to our lack of in-depth understanding. The same thing can be said about the distance to the sun: we can't verify it ourselves foot by foot, so we trust there will be at least one expert that will flag the inconsistencies in the apparatus and/or the methodology used for measurents. Hume's skepticism only lands in a world where we can't trust anything except that which can be felt by our senses so why try, let's just live the hedonistic way and get over with it. Primary qualities of external world are primary for a reason; secondary qualities are where things become muddy, and that's where we need the trust in methodology and apparatus. Is code a primary quality?
