There is this weird preconception that someone who invents or discovers something meaningful has monopoly over that field. Our boy Eduardo Galeano claims the Chinese were the first to play some sort of ancient football and they are piss today when it comes to the beautiful game. I was under the impression that the Mesoamericans did it first. The book was lovely so I'm not going to dispute his claim. Football in Sun and Shadow. #bookstr
