I'd say both goals are well within the range of SpaceX's mission. Not trying to be an Elon simp (I don't like OR dislike the guy) but ultimately, the operations of SpaceX are definitely a multi-faceted mission.
Plus, if we start putting AI data centers into space, then it takes up fewer resources on earth, with less pollution potential. And it's also going to be cheaper to pull that off. Moreover, mining asteroids is actually a pretty smart plan for a corporation to aim for. The only problem it might have is that it might possibly ruin the scarcity aspect of gold, silver and other precious metals... but as far as this community goes, I don't think that that's really something most here are concerned about.
