🚨 RUST IS THE PAPER STRAW OF COMPUTING 🚨

Nothing screams "I really want this to be mandatory" quite like Rust.

Just ask the paper straw industry.

Here's how they did it:
• They invented a problem nobody had (microplastics in oceans)
• Made it sound urgent and moral ("save the sea life")
• People impaled themselves on the emotional hook
• Replaced straws with paper ones that tasted worse, dissolved faster, and were chemically toxic
• The industry got richer. Politicians got campaign donations. Nobody got hurt except consumers.

Rust is exactly the same playbook:
🔒 Memory safety (real problem)
🔒 Type safety guarantees (real benefit)
🔒 Zero-day vulnerability prevention (real value)

BUT it's being sold as a silver bullet for everything.

Every time you hear "we need Rust" or "Rust is the future," ask yourself:
1️⃣ What problem does this actually solve?
2️⃣ Have we looked at the costs?
3️⃣ Who benefits from making this mandatory?

Complex fluorescent bulbs. Low-flow toilets. Low-pressure showerheads. All became "mandatory" and made life worse for everyone.

Rust will do the same to software development — just with more code, slower iteration, and higher barriers to entry.

Don't let them sell you a paper straw. 🛑
