Yes, I am aware that Canada is comparatively small, and has become greatly integrated with the US since at least NAFTA in 1993, which I raged against as a 15-year-old [points at avatar], because it just seemed like such an obviously bad long-term strategy for a sovereign nation that purported to give a shit about its non-shareholder citizens.

But the point of elected governments paying expert advisors is to consider potentialities, one of which is the US cutting things off, including supply chains and financial systems, because it is run by a flailing narcissist who *can.*

Canada ought to have started building our own capacity decades ago. Expert advisors ought now to be considering the consequences of continued integration with the US on things like military machinery and the computer systems that run our lives

But as far as I can tell, the ruling class is currently not willing to do anything that jeopardizes *their* comfort, not even considering it as a possibility. That is bad governance.
