Being easy to watch doesn't make a film bad. Being hard to watch definitely does not necessarily make a film good.
But I think I would be much more interested in Nolan as a filmmaker if Nolan was as interested in challenging his audience to understand what is unfolding as he was then (& challenging himself to deliver complex narratives in ways that are comprehensible).
