the guardian keeps flagging me for donations but i refuse to donate BECAUSE THEY SHUT DOWN AND/OR OVER-REGULATED i.e. censored the comments section!
they had the best comments comments section, i used to laugh out loud as the brits really do have a witty sense of humor (i used to even read the more local british topics just for their extra funny burns of local politicians, hilarious!) but also comments generally offered interesting perspectives and/or added info to the topic that the journalist missed or interpreted incorrectly or without nuance/context. not all — of course — but enough.
so then they started flagging all the witty comments as not being compliant with their rules, comments section turned boring & useless, then they’d only have them for a few articles & now i hardly ever see them.
so i pay for FT.
GUARDIAN you suck! but i do still read it, mostly b/c it is free tho.
so if you turn back on Unfiltered Comments, i will donate as i do read it occasionally, but only the comments are worth paying for at this point.
IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.
(now that twitter is gone—which also had wit—there’s only lumbering, dull, heavy-handed, boring sites online in the group-media sphere, like i already know what everyone thinks on X i don’t need to read it, like i know what the journalists “think” at the guardian, no need to read it).
