Yes, but honestly? If it's good and has a place, then I find a place for it eventually. Maybe it goes in another chapter or maybe a conversation gets split up and sprinkled across a few others or maybe it just becomes a dream sequence.

I do not *do* "cut what you love." If I love it, there's a darn good reason for it. I am not writing movies that need to be 95±5 minutes and I have enough experience with short stories to nail a 22-minute cartoon on the button.

And I am certainly not cutting what's essential.

Ultimately, I'm creating things I want to see. And, for better or worse, that means I hold myself to some pretty high standards. If it doesn't meet those standards, I don't regret cutting it.
